Bears Interview Patriots OC Josh McDaniels for Head Coach

The Chicago Bears and GM Ryan Pace continued their search for the 16th coach in franchise history with one of the league’s top candidates.

The Bears interviewed New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on Friday evening for the head coach vacancy, according to the Bears’ Twitter.

It’s believed that the Bears will be in search of an offensive mind to develop quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, which makes McDaniels an obvious and smart candidate.

McDaniels has led a powerful Patriots offense with Tom Brady as his quarterback. McDaniels, who got his first head coaching gig in Denver, is looking for another shot at being a head coach in this league. He’s a great offensive mind that can help develop Trubisky. But his desire to perhaps have control of the 53-man roster might be the beginning of the end.

Pace interviewed Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur earlier Friday.
