Mitch Trubisky to Room with Rams QB Jared Goff This Offseason
The first quarterbacks to be selected in the past two NFL drafts are about to come best friends. Okay, well, at least they’re about to become training buddies.
Bears quaterback Mitchell Trubisky will train and room with Rams quarterback Jared Goff this offseason in California.
“I’ll be down in Newport. I’m staying with Mitchell Trubisky,” Goff said in an interview with Barstool Sports Radio. “I’m excited to spend some time with him, get down to Newport, hang out at the beach a little bit.”
It seems as if the bromance has already began in Minnesota, the site of Super Bowl LII, where Trubisky posted a photo on Instagram of him with Goff.
If there’s anyone that would benefit Trubisky this offseason, it’s someone like Goff, who came off a similar situation with the Rams. Both quarterbacks, in their rookie seasons, were subjected to conservative head coaches in offensive systems not geared to their strengths.
Goff told Chicago Tribune reporter Rich Campbell in December that he believes Trubisky can make an impressive jump in his second season.
“He has all the talent in the world (and) the work ethic,” Goff said. “He’s young, but he’s mature. He understands this (season) isn’t his whole career. He has time to grow.
“He’s very similar to how I felt about it last year. Don’t let this define you, by any means.”
Goff soared to new heights in 2017, including a Pro Bowl nod, behind new head coach Sean McVay and his fresh offensive scheme. Bears fans certainly hope that with the edition of new coach Matt Nagy and his offensive staff that Trubisky will experience a similar jump in his second year.
