Mitch Trubisky Promises the Bears Will Have a Good Team This Year

It’s been a long time since Chicago Bears fans have been this optimistic heading into a new season. We’re less than three weeks away from the start of training camp, but the hope and hype continues to make what can be a long offseason a little more bearable.

And it’s easy to see why fans and media alike have been hyping the Bears this offseason. After bringing in new head coach Matt Nagy with a fresh attitude and an exciting offensive scheme, the Bears also brought in several targets for second year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. They’ve maintained defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and a good defense with the potential to be even better, especially with rookie linebacker Roquan Smith.

But it’s also dangerous to start making guarantees. While the Bears are likely to be exponentially better than last year’s team, there’s no denying that with implementing a new offense will bring some learning pains. While it’d be nice for the Bears to pull a 2017 Los Angeles Rams type of run this season, it’s not to be expected, especially in one of the league’s toughest divisions in the NFC North.

Trubisky understands the danger of making guarantees. So while he won’t make any predictions on how many games the Bears will win or if they’ll make the playoffs, he does promise Bears fans that they’re going to see a good team this year.

“One of the things I learned early on was don’t make any predictions and don’t give out any guarantees. Besides the fact that I can promise you we’re going to give you our best effort on the field, I’m very excited about this year and optimistic about what we can do. But I’m just not allowed to make any guarantees,” Trubisky said in a video from the Peoria Journal Star. “But I can promise you if you come to Bears games, you’re going to have a lot of fun and we’re going to have a good team this year.”
