Press Conference: Mitch Trubisky Meets the Media on Day 1 in Bourbonnais
The Chicago Bears have officially reported to Training Camp in Bourbonnais, and there’s no denying that there’s a level of hope and optimism that hasn’t been evident in quite some time. That comes from a new, innovative coach in Matt Nagy, a second year quarterback on the rise, new weapons offensively, a solid returning defensive unit, and a new attitude.
For Bears second year gunslinger Mitch Trubisky, he’s ready to finally get out on the practice field and continuing to install this new offense.
“I feel a lot more comfortable than last year,” Trubisky told reporters on Thursday. “I know my role. I know exactly what I need to do. I know the offense. I can just go out there and be myself.
“I know everybody on the team. I’ve earned their respect and trust and I’ll continue to do so through my work ethic and how much I care about this team and this game.”
As Trubisky heads into his second year — his first as a starting quarterback and his first in Nagy’s new system — he feels confident and prepared when it comes to preparation and execution on the field.
“I know exactly what I’ve got to do day-in and day-out to be prepared for practice and in meetings with the install,” Trubisky said. “Taking very detailed notes, continue to go over those notes, asking questions in meetings, just being an active listener and doing what I’ve got to do to be prepared each day.
“I feel comfortable where I’m at within this offense; definitely way ahead compared to last year. And I think it allows me to play faster and process defenses quicker at the line of scrimmage.”
